ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

The associate veterinarian is responsible for providing medical care including physical exams, diagnosis and treatment. Must exude a high level of professionalism and patience with clients and their pets while providing excellent care. He/she must be willing to go above and beyond in patient care and give clients options for their pet’s care. The associate veterinarian must be willing to educate all team members on procedures, vaccinations, medications, prescription diets, etc.

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

The veterinary technician is the veterinarian’s primary medical support. They begin the examination process by obtaining the patient’s history and continue to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases. The veterinary technician aids the veterinarian in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail. They have a very significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets. Veterinary Technician Registration (RVT)/license is required.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

The veterinary assistant assists the veterinarian and veterinary technician in providing animal care. The veterinary assistant assists in the examination process by obtaining the patient’s history and continues to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases. The veterinary assistant aids the veterinarian in achieving greater efficiency by relieving him/her of technical work and administrative detail. The veterinary assistant has a very significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Customer service representatives are the client’s first contact when calling or visiting the practice and must represent the professional image of the practice at all times. They answer telephones, greet clients, prepare patient paperwork, get weights on pets, escort clients and patients to exam rooms, receive and clinical team when needed in restraining patients and providing basic patient care.

CALL CENTER REPRESENTATIVE

Call center representatives are the client’s first contact when calling City Way Animal Clinics and must represent the professional image of the practices at all times. They answers telephones, schedule appointments; direct/transfer calls to the appropriate practice or team member as needed, and obtain client requests for records/medications/food.

DVM AND VETERINARY TECHNICIAN EXTERNSHIPS

Under the supervision of a mentor, you’ll receive a realistic look at life as a veterinary professional through client interaction and first-hand experience with a typical caseload of a small animal practice. In accordance with Indiana’s practice act, you will obtain patient histories, perform physical exams, develop diagnostic plans, assist with medical cases and surgeries, develop client communication skills, practice technical skills, and learn City Way Animal Clinics’ approach to veterinary care.

Externships are flexible, typically ranging from two to eight weeks during the year. Your schedule will include working weekends, as well as regular business hours during the week. You must be enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program and authorized to work in the United States to participate in an externship.
